Hal E• •West, a sophomore ac– counting major frcm Nash– ville, Tennessee was elected business manager of the ~b!iC!jion. _ summer school, registrar and manager of the Karding Bookstore, Mrs. Dykes has been with the Bookstore for forty YNt'S, The two were presented watches by Dr. Clifton Ganus Jr. ( Yearbook Receives 19th All-American Murphy, son of Mr. and Mrs. James V, Murphy. 25 Dalewood, served as ~t.or , _The Harding yearbook, The 1978 P~it Jean, received All-American honors for tlJe. 19th consecutive year from the National Scholastic Press Association-Associated Collegiate Press judging ~~ at the October 31 meeting of Arkansas College Publications A~iation. all areas although they were tied for first in three areas by the Ouachito11ian. Areas of judging were photography, copy, display,. coverage and concept. 'the first place ti~ were ln concept, copy. and coverage. The Harding entry was also awarded marks of distinction in photography, copy, display and concept. the book. He has achieved membership in Alpha Oii national honor scholarship society with a grade point average of 3.95 and be serves as a ttudent assistant In tile college public relations office. He la a member of Galaxy men's club. West is treasw-er of the Society of Collegiate Jour– nalists and secretary of Kappa Sigma Kltppa men's club. He has worked ln the advertisement section of the Petit .JealJ, lils parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harold We8t of Nashville, The 1979 Petit Jean, being edited by Miss Kay Williams, is currently being compiled t.o be ready for distribution next Spt'Ulj?. The Edited by Tom Buterbaugh of Nash– ville, T-.n., the yearbook also won first place in general excellence over ~l other books in the Arkansas College Publications judging. In the critiqueing, contest judge George Shell commented, "Ideas, thought out and carried ~t well, make the Petit Jean tops on the college circuit of yearbooks." ·Another judge, St.eve Carlson, said, "This is the best college or university book I've seen this summer... book has received All– Americanratings for the last 18 consecutive years.
