(photo by Joey Cope) Outstanding Program Being Planned For 'Lectureship Preachers Attend' Well-known as "the lectureship that preachers attend," the Lub– bock Christian College Annual Bi– ble Lectureship is expected to reach new heights of excellence this year with the · climax of. a four-year theme series. The series started in 1970, with "Great Chapters of the Bible." In 1971, it was "Great Books of t h e Bible," and in 1972 the theme was "Great Verses of the Bible." The theme for LCC's seventeenth lectureship, October 21-24, will be "Great Words of the Bible." · Initial planning for this year's program began last summer, and moved into "second gear" during the 1972 lectures. Drawing upon the hundreds of suggestions that pour in each year from elders, deacons, preachers, song leaders, Bible class teachers and others who have made the LCC lectures an important part of their lives, the lectureship committee has already put together the basics of this year's program. The evening topics w i 11 be "Blood" (Sunday), "Church" (Monday) , "Purity" (Tuesday) and "Peace" (Wednesday) . The morn– ing chapel topics, Monday through Wednesday, will be "Faith," "Hope" and "Love." The very popular "Difficult Vers– es of the Bible" presentations, that (See LECTURESHIP page 2) College, Dr. Kay, LCHS Receive National Awards · Lubbock Christian College and Dr . C. L. Kay, the school's assistant president, have received national awards from the Freedoms Founda– tion at Valley Forge. Lubbock Christian High School was also named an award recipient. LCC received the Distinguished Service Award (DSA). This is the fourth consecutive year that this award has been given in recognition of the College's campus programs and its "Americanism outreach" projects. This College received its first DSA in 1970, in recognition of its 10th consecutive George Washing– ton Honor Medal Award. LCC's principal Americanism out– reach project has been its Public Affairs Speakers Bureau. T h i s year's members are Dr. F. W. Mat– tox, Dr. C. L. Kay, Dick Laird and Jim Ravanelli. Dr. Kay's award, a George Wash– ington Honor Medal, was for a speech, "The Will to Win," which he delivered at the 1972 joint sales meeting of t h e Texas Power and Light Company, the Texas Electric Service Company and the Dallas Power and Light Company. This was his fifth such award. In the high school division, LCHS received its ninth consecutive George Washington Honor Medal Award. The Freedoms Foundation insti– tuted its National and School Awards Programs in 1949, "as a means of spurring the incentive spirit of America to expound and (See AWARDS page 5)
