I knew something of the Deanship that belonged to L. C. Sears; I knew the President Emeritus work of J. • Arm trong; I knew alma t the entiret of the George Benson Presidency, and I have known the entiret of Cliff Ganus' Presidenc . ow another era in the great histor of Harding is closing a chapter as ou resign from a ver hea responsibilit ou have so splendid! carried. I am delighted I have seen it in its entirety, and I have known firsthand some of the superior quality in leadership you have brought to the school. For it all, I am profoundly thankful. I just wanted to congratulate ou and Bessie Mae on occupying nobl a high position of leadership at Harding; and I believe your influence will continue to soar and strengthen the wo rth of that great school. I am confident that the highest of standards has been set by ou for Neale Pr or to follow--and when any of us who know the glorious history of Harding reflect on its superior qualities, we will have our work and that of Dean Sears also to revere. Thank you for what ou have accomplished. I am persuaded your love for Harding will never diminish and I wanted ou to know the esteem_in which you are held by all of us who love that school will know no abatement. Thank you for the excellency of your life, the beauty of your service , and the profundity of the achieve– ments that have been yours . What you have accomplished with the Petit Jean has been phenomenal--! have never heard of a record that can touch it topside or bottom. I am further persuaded that the excellency of what you have shown here typifies the entirety of your work as Dean of Harding. Again my thanks for decades of service superbly rendered , and Betty joins me in extending you our best wishes that the new career that now opens fo r you will be of immense delight and personal joy .
