They are still serving now. Dr. J<>e, as. he is affectionately·called, has spent 23 years · at Harding ·as academic dean or vice president. Bessie . In her senior ~, Bessle Mae edited the Petit Jean yearbook (1946). Dr. Joe served asc~ of the department of physical science from 1944-63. Student Editors Appointed for 1988-89 Harding University is in · the Hall of Fame - the Associated Collegiate Press Hall of Fame in Min- neapolis, Minn. Only· two colleges and universities in the nation have been inducted into the _elite award category. To be eligible, the institution must have had 10 consecutive All-American yearbooks. Harding's Petit Jean was awarded its 28th con- secutive All-American rating in the fall of 1987. The previous work experience includes an internship with the Associated Collegiate Press in the yearbook cri– tique service. He conducts regular student publications workshops for the Universi- . ty o·f Alabama, the Carolina Journalism Institute, the University of Missouri and the University of Minnesota. A 1980 graduate of Harding, Shock com·– pleted the M.A. degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1985. His ~. opportunities;· he added. 'Serving as editors of the two student publications are Sharon Bowles of Abilene, Texas, and Greg Taylor of Bartlesville, Okla. The 1989 Petit Jean editor, Sharon is a junior journalism major and a member of Shantih social club. The Bison editor, Greg·is a senior jour– nalism major in Chi Sigma Alpha social club. Assistant editors of the publications are Jennifer Terry, a junior public rela– tions major from Apple Valley, Minn., Petit Jean; and Susan Arnette, a senior public relations major from Salinas, Calif., Bison.
