' \announced by Hardine , · t David Woodroof, assistant director Four administrative, staff and ·faculty changes were announced :Thursday at Harding University by ·Dr. David Burks, president. : Dr. Jerome Barnes, professor of :education and director of the educa– :tional media center, will assume the ~newly created position as Dean of Campus Life. •. Eddie Campbell, dean of men, will •'move to- another area of the student • services area in July to become an UIGOiate professor in the Univer– sity's Counseling Center. Dr. Wilt Martin, professor of health, physical education and recreation, was named to chair Har– ding's athletic committee. He will also succeed Dr. Joseph E. Pryor as AIC faculty representative when Dr. Pryor's current term ends in 11 mon– ths. of the educational media center, will replace Barnes as director of the facility. ''I am very pleased to announce these appointments. Each of these men bas demonstrated abilities that I want to utilize as president of Har– ding," said Burks. " Each of these men bas a very deep cornmitmente to Harding.'' "Jerome and Eddie have worked tirelessly in the area of student ser– vices/student personnel. In their new roles they will .be able to provide even more leadership in this area, which I consider to be one of the most impor– tant on the campus. "David is an excellent person to replace Dr. Barnes in the educational media center. His knowledge and ex– pertiae plus bis ability to provide an outatanding quality of services made him the logical choice to direct this area. I'm looking for– ward to his leadership on the athletic committee and later as Harding's faculty representative to the AIC. I am confident of his ability to serve Harding in these new respon– sibilities." · Barnes, a 1956 Harding graduate has been a faculty member since 1961. He holds the doctorate degree from North Texas State University. In his new role he will continue and expand his work with various cam– pus groups. For 18 years Barnes has been the advisor to the school's Stu– dent Association. Campbell has been a member of the Harding staff since 1965. He is an alumnus of the school, having receiv– ed both the B.A. and M.A.T. degrees in 1959 and 1962. Prior to joining the Harding Staff, he was dean of students/ principal of Georgia Christian School. While at Harding has been active in the local chapter of the American Red-Cross. Martin received the baccalaureate and master's degrees from Harding and be received the doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas in UWI. Prior to joining the University's faculty he coached at Harding Academy. He has also served for six years as assistant director of Camp Tahkodah and 10 years as assistant Bison basketball coach. Woodroof is a 1976 Harding Academy graduate and a 1981 Har– ding alumnus. While a student he worked all four years in the educa– tional media center. He serves as the sound tedmician for Spring Sing and bo1NCODJing musical productions.
