DR. AND MRS. JOE PRYOR Pryors honored on 40th anniversary Dr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Pryor were honored on their 40th wedding an– niversary with a surprise reception held in the Olen Hendrix Building on the Harding University Campus between 2 and 4:30 p.m. August 31. Their daughters, Beverly Jo and Susan Pryor, were hostesses. Dr. and Mrs. Pryor, along with Mrs. Burton Ingram, sister of Mrs . Pryor and Mr. Ingram of Crossville, Tennessee and John Ledbetter, Jr., Mrs. Pryor's brother and Mrs. Ledbetter, of Shelbyville, Tennessee greeted the 350 guests who attended. Susan Pryor registered guests at a table covered with a sheer white pleated skirt and overlaid with a white satin coverlet bordered with lace. A silver candlestick holding a white candle accented the table. The serving table was covered with a white sheer pleated skirt and overlaid with a white army-navy cloth. Red and white pouf bows ac– cented the table corners. The table was centered with an arrangement of multi-color roses in a silver basket resting on a mirror plateau. Twin silver candelabra holding white candles completed the decor. Mesdames George S. Benson, Elizabeth Mason, Jack Wood Sears and Malcolm Murray and Beverly Joe Pryor alternately served the three-tier white heart-shaped cake, a duplicate of the Pryor's original cake. Mesdames George C. Alcott, James D. Bales and Susan Pryor alternately ser ed punch. The memorabilia table was covered with a white sheer pleated . skirt and overlaid with a white lace cloth puffed at the center and tied with a red and white pouf bow. The table was centered with an arrange– ment of red roses and baby's breath. Memorabilia included Dr. and Mrs. Pryor's wedding photographs ; the "Bride's Book" and "Advice to the Bride," a pamphlet compiled from letters of friends and given to Mrs. Pryor at a bridal shower and a 1946 edition of the Petit Jean. Dr. Pryor was Petit Jean sponsor while Mrs. Pryor was the 1946 editor. Other out-of-town guests were Mrs. Pryor's niece, Mrs. Walter Nichols, Mr. Nichols and Sarah Elizabeth of Shelbyville, Tennessee; Mrs. Pryor's nephew, Michael Ingram and Mrs , Ingram and Annie and Nathan In– gram, Mrs. Pryor's nephew, of Crossville, Tennessee; Mr. and Mrs. Reggie Reynolds, Grant, Gretchen and Gentry of Shreveport, Louisiana and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Roper ·or Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Assisting with the serving table were Mesdames Neil Cope, Dwight Smith, Evan Ulrey, Virgil B~ckett, Edward Sewell, Andy T. Ritchie, Jr., Florence Henry, A. R.
