Pryor Scrapbook Dr. Joe, 1986

February 25, 1986 Dr Joseph Pryor Harding University Searcy, Arkansas Dear Dr Pryor, Memories of Harding still linger fondly. Many names and faces have grown fuzzy after twenty-two years but yours remains crystal clear . My family has its third generation at Harding now and you have been a positive force on all three. Like Jesus, you are a rock that others can depend on , and build on . The two years I worked on the Petit Jean staff were as important to my personal development as any subject I studied. It was a laboratory to apply the business principles, theories and skills being pumped into my head by the Hedricks' , Starrs' and Tuckers' (Mrs). It was a crucible where theory met life . And you were there, looking over our shoulder to make sure we didn't fail but giving us room to grow. You are the epitome of Harding, of Christian education. You provide an environment where young Christians can take their "first steps" away from home. You provide a place full of peers where the majority want to make the right decisi o ns on life. You provide the examples that help young people convert their parent's habits to their personal beliefs. Lest I leave you on some untouchable pedestal, let me add that my memories include some wild late night drives to Oklahoma City to review final glossies. It was during those trips that I learned about your humor. You compared yourself to s o me Old Testament character known as a wild chariot driver. Your jokes made you a real person. They made you human. Thank you for the example you give us all! Sincerely, W. Leighton Waters W.
