Pryor Scrapbook Dr. Joe, 1986

College Relations Office Ohio Valley College February 25, 1986 Dr. Joseph E. Pryor Harding University Searcy, Arkansas Dear Dr. Joe: Educating to Serve It is my pleasure to write this letter to you on the occasion of the reunion of former Petit Jean staff members. All of us, having worked on the yearbook staff with you as our adviser, share a common experience, even though we may not know each other. You, Dr. Joe, are the thread which runs continually through our common experience. As time passes, my memories of life in the PJ office grow fonder. I re– member your high expectations and how badly I wanted to live up to them; you brought out the best in me. In your own life, you epitomized the theme of my book, "FLYING HIGH on wings of understanding," in that your contributions to Harding helped shape it into the school it was and is. I appreciated so much, and was often amazed, at your constant positive demeanor -- I never recall your saying a negative word about anyone or anything. You were always helpful and took time for our needs, no matter how busy you were. You entrusted to me the responsibility of editorship and then respected my judgment throughout the process. I hold many great memories of the fun we had on the staff -- like the trips to Oklahoma City, the tension reliever of dressing up the photograph of Myra Lou Tyre; your surprise visits to the office at one o'clock in the morning -- and a thousand more. But the thing that most impressed me about you, Dr. Joe, was your unques– tioned integrity. We knew what you stood for and that has made an indelible impact on me. My life is richer and I am undoubtedly better equipped because of my experience on the Petit Jean staff. Thank you for all that you are and may the Lord grant you many more years in his service.
