Pryor Scrapbook Dr. Joe, 1986

Dear Dr . Joe , Beaverton , Oregon February1986 . Between changing diapers , carting kids to birthday parties , and deciding what culinary delight to have for lunch (peanut butter sandwiches or macaroni and cheese?) memories of Petit Jean layouts, cropping pictures and proofreading are not all that vivid ! But deja vu does occ ur sometimes when I'm up ' til the wee hours rocking a baby . Therewas once another "baby" which required a lot of lat e hours . Thenight watchman knew us well ! Shores Chapel was conveniently located across the hall so that the weary photography staff could take snaps , I mean naps . hey did deserve some rest since we decided to s art doing the majority of our printing and developing in- house that year . It was quite a change , but Dave Ho gan and Gary Hanes did rise to and for the occasion . We also decided to move toward the magazine style in ' 76 , using more graphics and copy- - such as the little personalizedquotes in the classes section . Many other things hazily come to mind , l i ke trips to the print shop , t he PR office, the bus station , and of course , the Dean ' s office . The big event of going to John and Chris Clark ' s in Oklahoma City was highlighted by the lavish meals. But who could forget the frantic search that took place when the P ' s and Q' s of the directory turned up mi ssing . It does pay to mind your P ' s and Q' s , we found . However , I must admit that the memorable trip to the Clark ' s was in 1980 when Cam and I accompanied the staff in the old Belles and Beaux bus . He occasionally tells the story of being in Henrietta , Oklahoma , at eight o ' clock one night , scraping ice off the windshield with credit cards so we could make i t in to the city . (The wipers had frozen too . ) We literally went through ra i n , sleet and snow that night o deliver the Pet i t Jean pages . But as I reminisce , the eople and fri endships come i nto sharper f ocus . It was a special group with three future PJ editors-- Kim , Tom and Charles--who went on t o put ou beautiful books . I t i s still fun to keep up with several people , and I always enjoy knowing where those
