Alabama Christian Academy P.0.Box 17630 Montgomery, AL. 36117-0420 Telephone 272-5820 March l, 1986 Dr. Joseph Pryor Harding University Searcy, Arkansas Dear Dr. Joe, " Remembering when " is so much easier for the young, but so rewarding for those of us who are older. It isn't difficult, however, to remember the great times we had in the early 60's working on the Petit Jean. All of us will recall those late-night sessions as we worked to meet the last deadlines . l suppose too that most who participated will remember the annual trip to Oklahoma City. Some may even rec a 11 the panic we felt when captions or photos were missing when we were ready to mail. But all of us will surely remember the quiet way you guided us. We will never forget the gentle discipline you brought to us. The years I spent on the Petit Jean staff taught me much about leadership. You helped me learn the joy of accepting a ·responsibility and of seeing it through to completion. I learned much about how to "encourage" others to follow through with their commitments, and how to bring in support troops when the battle is going badly. I' 11 never forget how Dr. England stepped in to write captions for us. You know, I've often wondered why the evaluators couldn't see vast difference in quality from his captions to mine. Much a bout those years is a blur now. My memories are mostly general ones. But the feeling of purpose, acceptance, comradery, exhaustion, anticipation, and accomplishment wi 11 stay with me forever. Thank you for so positively effecting my life . . Atkinson
