Pryor Scrapbook Dr. Joe, 1986

Feb . 18 , 1986 . Dear Joe: The organizers of the Petit Jean reunion have asked that "former editors and business managers write a letter to Dr . Pryor remembering our days on the P. J. staff" . This is a pleasant assignment for me and an easy one for even though it has been almost a half century since we were on campus together with me watching over your shoulder as you edited the ' 37 edition , I recall that time with fond and vivid memories . Our editorships were perhaps more difficult than some , Joe , as Frances Ruby wasn ' t present to turn to and ask , "What do I do now?; nor was there any other faculty member to fi l l the role . Of course , my "turn in the barrel" was much easier than yours as you were kind enough , patient enough , and capable enough to t ake me under your wing to ob– serve the details of your cranking out the year- book on your own. The exnerience certainly stood me in good stead the following year and it helped me over many a rough spot by simply asking the question , "Now how did Joe do this last year? " I was grateful then and remain so today . Although I thanked you then I feel it only fit ting to say now, ''Thanks again , Joe" . Of course , the memories of our associati on go beyond our time spent in the publications office , and I ' ve always been grateful for that too . Sincerely, P. S. Also , congratulations on your record through the years as a facul ty advisor . The high ratings given the Petit Jeans each of those years bespeak as to the quality of your guidance better than words of mine could express .
