Memo ,__,.....-. Dear Joe, Writing this letter has been good for me. It made me dig out the 1946 Petit Jean 1kt to review what I went on during that year. Naturally I had to read many of the notes that different mes wrot and it brought back many memories. Many events were mentioned that I can't recall happening. . I guess that's a sign of something, but when I think about it , many of those event occurred over 40 years ago. Joe, I noted that in 1946 Dr. Summitt was the faculty advisor for the Petit Jean. . I don't O remember any contact with Dr. Summitt, I but I do remember that you gave me a lot of needed advice on the use of the cameras and the printing of pictures ;(,.., in the dark room . By that time l I came to my senior year and even before , I came to consider you as one of my dearest friends . you had helped me so much to develop my talents and to set worthy goals. You gave me a chanc to serve as lab assistant You encouraged me to go on for a higher degree. . You went to bat for me to get me into LSU . You supported me when I came back to Harding to teach . I also felt you were concerned and sympathetic about the circumstances that led h..d. to my leaving Harding after two year of tea Since that time our children have had an opportunity to be together at Harding - to make their own happy and sad memories.
