Pryor Scrapbook Bessie Mae, 1984

• Mrs. Joe Pryer Harding University Searcy, AR 72143 Dear Bessie Mae, Nashville, TN 37205 October 3, 1984 It is hard to know just where to begin in expressing my memories of Regina. The familiar expression "start at the beginning" would not be too difficult for me. However, getting to the end would be much harder. The beginning of my association with Regina came before I arrived at Harding. As you know, my brother attended Harding before me. Through him, very special friend– ships were developing with members of Regina. When I did come to Harding in the fall of 1976 and began considering my club choice, those initial contacts were evident. But I remember the warmth and comfort I felt when I visited your home for the first time. From that time on through the next four years I was confident that you were there for me whenever I needed you. The club was very special to me during my college career as it always will be. The girls represented unity and unity was reinforced each time we held hands to sing the club song. The scripture in Proverbs was chosen as a guide for each individual and for the club as a whole to be God's women in every decision we would make and in every act that we would perform. Everything we do in life and do well takes hard work. Spring Sing was a lot of hard work and countless hours. With the assistance of our brother club we always did it well. Sometimes we won, one time we "thought" we won; therefore, sometimes we lost. But those losses were seen in the eyes of others. Regina and Chi Sigs were always winners. We won friendships and created memories that will never cease to exist. Well, I could never talk to anyone about Regina without mentioning the opportunity I had to serve as President. I was always confident of your support. That was one of the greatest experiences for me. It was the spring semester of my junior year which meant Spring Sing and the banquet. Do you remember I asked Dr. Joe to lead the "closing" prayer before we ate dinner! Do you think I was nervous? Every step of the way, you were there for me and each of us. During pledge week you gave us encouragement with a wink of the eye and a comforting smile. Each meeting was held in your home and we were greeted warmly. The door was always open to our brother club for devotionals and those special holiday gatherings. As I mentioned earlier, when do I come to the end. The end does not really exist for me. Regina will be in my life always. Certainly, the specific incidents and events that took place may become dim, but the influence will remain. Bessie Mae, you are what Regina represented to me. You always went one step further to do for others and always strived to serve God. Thank you for all you have given me and so many others in these past years and for what I know you will continue to do in the years to come. May God bless you and your family always.
