Pryor Scrapbook Bessie Mae, 2008

Bessie Mae, Happy 85th Birthday, I will not be able to be there to help celebrate your special day, but wanted to let you know that you are one of my very special memories of Harding College (as it was called when I was there). I was a member of Regina from 1976 to 1978, and enjoyed so much the fellowship of the Christian ladies in the club. I loved coming to your house for meetings, and enjoying your spiced tea. Whenever I make it now for special occasions, I think of you. You were always such a gracious hostess, and made us feel so welcome in your home. My husband Dennis and I have had two daughters graduate from Harding, and a son who will be a May graduate. All three of them have found their spouses at Harding -- so our memories of this very special place continue to grow. You and Dr. Joe were both such a big part of these memories for us. I hope that you enjoy your birthday celebration, and pray that you will continue in good health to enjoy many more -- you still have many other young ladies to inspire, Thank you so much for your love, caring, and commitment to helping others. I will always remember the wonderful Christian example you were to me so many years ago. God bless you, Love, Colleen Shaffer Mount 2714 Anderson Road Lynchburg, OH 45142 937-364-6136 c_mount56@hotmail.co m ( 1976-1978) Hello Bessie Mae, Colleen (Shaffer) Mount, Dennis Mount, Robin (Mount) Lashley, Nicole (Reece) Mount, Eric Mount, Rachel (Mount) Steed, Josh Steed You may not rememberme but I attend Harding and graduated in 1961 . Dr. Joe was one of my teachers in some math and science courses. I received my Masters in Mathematics from LSU in Baton Rouge. Many of my teachers in the math dept. at LSU remembered Dr. Joe as did Dr. Houston Karnes who was my major professor. Dr. Karnes had served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Harding College. Chris McHan is my son and you and Dr. Joe we in Italy when he and Kalai Redick, now his wife, were there and Chris has a deep respect for you. I want to thank you for your dedication to Harding and for all the wonderful things you have done for so many young people. I have a granddaughter at Harding this year and my wife and I attended Spring Sing a few weeks back. I was thrilled to be able to go through the Science Building and see the honor given to Dr. England and Dr. Pryor. Happy Birthday and thank you so much, Herman McHan
