Pryor Scrapbook Bessie Mae, 2008

To: Bessie Mae: In 1959 I made a thousand-mile journey from Colorado to the Harding Campus, alone, sight unseen, knowing only one person, Mrs. Baldwin, Cathcart Dorm Mother. Coming from a small rural high school, a mission field environment, and arriving with very little money, the adjustments were many. My new home seemed crowded with about nine hundred students on campus at that time. The Reginas soon became my new family. The special times we were allowed to leave campus and go to Bessie Mae's house to work on projects and attend those wonderful teas meant so much. Love and caring of Bessie Mae and Dr. Joe seemed to permeate throughout the gathering. I do not expect Bessie Mae to remember me, since I spent only one year at Harding, but that one-year changed my life. What a blessing to have witnessed her dedication to the Lord; her patience especially having to deal with some of us giggling Reginas; and to have known a women that so ably reflects Proverbs 31. Long Live Queen Bessie Mae! Congratulations to you and God's blessings! Ina Linn Brown (1959-1960) 3 Plantation Drive West Heber Spring, AR 72543 . : •• •• :t •
