• • Prominent Searciad dies .. today after long illness I Sammy Lane Lewis Pollard, prominent Searcian and wife of Odell Pollard died Wednesday at her home after a prolonged illness. Born May 9, 1930 at ·Pangburn, she was the daughter of C. L. Lewis and EvelynMedlein Lewis. Mrs. Pollard attended ·school at Pangburn High School and was graduated from Hendrix College, Con– way. She married Odell Pollard in February 1953 and to this union three children were born, Laura, Paula and Mark. They moved to Searcy where he was in the practice of law. . She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was cfuyrman of the making of symbolic or– naments ·for the Chrismon tree. This year's tree will be dedicated irt a special ser- 1· vice in her honor on November 30. In addition she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Parent Teachers Association antl \ past president of the Junior High Parent Teachers Coun– cil. She is survived by her hus- Pollard, and Mark Pollard ; her mother, Mrs . Evelyn Lewis ; her father , C. L. Lewis, all of Searcy; three sisters, Naomi Hook · and Frances Lewis of Little Rock and Rachael 0-avis of Bryant; and a brother, Jack Lewis of Clinton. · The family has requested that memorials be sent to First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society. Services will be held at 10:30 a .m., Friday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at White County Memorial Gardens by Daniel Funeral Home.
