Alpha Tau & GATA Positive Attitudes Accompany Achievement Established back in 1938, GATAhas continued to accom– plish many outstanding things that stand behind the name. Each year Gata sponsors the "Winterfestival " which is an event to help raisemoney for children to attend Camp Wyldewood . A queen is crowned at the festival and there are activities to attend. But the main focus of the event is to enable children who cannot afford it to attend camp. Ashley Cosby, club president, said, " The activity that we do lets us know that we are doing something to help enrich the summers for the children who might not be as fortunate as we are." Gata is unique; it is the oldest club on campus, and all of its sponsors were once in Gata themselves. No matter wheth– er it was sports or other club functions, they gave it their best shot. Perhaps that iswhy they are called "Gata" - Girls Aiming Toward Achievement. Gata's brother club, Alpha Tau Epsilon, proved itself once again to be a dedicated club. It was established in 1968, and the club has kept their dedication toGodaswell as to each other. Beginning in the fall, Alpha Tau gained 22 new members. Adding new members not only increased the size, but also their strength in growing closer to God. LeslieRiddle, club presi– dent, said, " We have pulled together to become an active close-knit club with close friendships that form as time passes..." This year Alpha Tau did ser– vice projects around the com– munity such as painting an el– derly lady's house on Harding Drive.
