2011-2012 Yearbook

f Though the Bisons' third trip to the NCAA tournament during the spring of 20 ll did not bring them a win, CoachJeff Morgan, in his 19th year of coaching, fdt the hard work and dedication the experience required would carry over into an even more succcssful20ll-2012 season. "I don't think people understand sometimes how hard it is to get there," Morgan said. ''l\t this level, NCAA Division II, there are 300 teams, and you're taking the best 64 teams in America to the NCAA tournament. You get to that point, and the only team that's going to be happy is the one that wins the NCAA championship." Morgan and Assistant Coach Ray \1\Toods felt the 20 ll-20 12 season brought advantages with the addition of three new team members: freshman Men's Basketball ~ ........ Demoine Brown, junior DeAntra Scott and senior Andrew Silverman. According to the coaches, the men provided benefits both offensively and defensively and gave the team a greater range of capability. Morgan said that Brown's many prestigious high school athletic awards helped him to understand the effort and attitude that were needed to compete on the university level, while Scott, at a height of 6'3", was a great asset to the team as well. "He's really athletic and docs a great job defensively," Morgan said. Silverman, who graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, decided to pursue his Master's in Business Administration, continuing his college basketball career by trying out for the team as a guard. According to sophomore point guard \!\Teston Jameson, the new members brought a greater level of competitiveness during practices and games. "They had a really good chemistry, and it picked up where we left off," Jameson said. "Everyone fits in really well." Ultimately, the new members meshed with the old to provide a successful team with more than a few games to get the Rhodes Field House fans rowdy. "W'e want to try to develop the best team we can possibly have," Morgan said. "\'\'e go about every day trying to get better, and we let the winning and losing take care of itself." Hannah Robison
