Danny DeRamus, d irector of physical resources, said the paths were first created by the students and then considered by the physi– cal resource department. Some trails became sidewalks, like the new path between the trees on the front lawn. Other trails were blocked with fences or hedges, like the additional hedges in front of Pattie Cobb.Hall. DeRamus lis ted the fence around the front lawn as a prime example. "The new fence was created to lessen the consis tent foot traffic ac ross the front lawn," DeRamus said. "During the spring and fall the g rass could hold up, butaunn th e wi nter it became a muddy mess."
