The three spent their summer interning at Saturn Road Church of Christ in Dallas. "It was the most amazing, humbling experience I've ever had," Kirkland said. "I felt more directed by God than any other time in my life." MANY 5TUDENT5 USE summer internshi s One of the best experiences for some Harding students isn't necessarily in the classroom. Junior Bible major Kevin Shelby said his internship this summer at Bammel Road Church of Christ in Spring, Texas was an excellent experience. "Working over the summer as an intern was a life changing opportunity for me." Shelby said. "It is such an incredible feeling to witness someone giving their life to God and knowing you had a small part in discovering the power of the Lord." Shelby, like many other students who intern for churches, will use his experiences to fuel his desire to minister to others in the future. Many students teamed up to intern over the summer. Juniors Jeremy Anderson, Kera Kelso and Adam Kirkland worked with the Saturn Road congregation in Dallas. The youth group worked with a flood relief program in Houston and did mission work in Colorado and New York. The growing interest in internships TO HELP THE CHURCH is a common attitude on campus. The availability of on-campus interviews is part of what makes the program so successful. Churches come to Harding seeking a Christian who is focused on the Lord and willing to serve. The reputation of the student body and its goals is the reason that Harding is such a hot spot for finding young adults who leave big marks where they are. Not only is the personal experience rewarding, but internships are also great for academic reasons. The ability to be going to school and participating in the internship program is good experience for resumes and future employment opportunities. Working outside of school, yet within a safe, Christian atmosphere where students are guided and constantly learning, is a rare event. The internship program that Harding provides changes many people's lives and will continue to provide opportunities for others to share in experiencing the rewarding results. -Heather Gray Jennifer Molder-Grove, Okla.
